The LRC is a place for learning, research, and reading.
Students are welcome in the LRC:
During class times, students can use their own devices or one of the 6 LRC desktop Macs.
During lunchtimes in the LRC, students can use the desktop Macs for school work, but no other devices are to be used at lunchtime.
Expectations of student behaviour
Because we want everyone to have an enjoyable and productive time in the LRC, whether they are involved in learning or reading activities, everyone must behave respectfully and responsibly in the LRC.
We have 4 basic rules:
Borrowing from the LRC
How many items can I borrow?
You may borrow up to 6 items at once. But please ask Mrs Boniface if you would like more.
How long can I keep items for?
Books can be borrowed for 3 weeks.
Graphic novels and magazines for 1 week.
Items can be renewed as long as there are no "Reserves" on it ( a Reserve means another student is waiting to borrow the item).
What happens if I don't return my loans on time?
You can not borrow any new items if you have overdue books.
If you want to keep an overdue item for longer just ask to renew it at the LRC Issuing Desk.
An Overdue Notice is emailed to a student's Heaton email address when it is two weeks overdue.
A Second Overdue Notice is sent to the student and a copy sent to a parent when a book is 4 weeks overdue.
A Final Overdue Notice is sent to both student and a parent when a book is 6 weeks overdue.
You will be charged the replacement cost of any item that is more than two months overdue.
What happens if I lose a book?
You will be charged the replacement cost for any item that you lose or that is more than two months overdue.
